Is it a bane or a boon
Its pouring rain for sure
Random bolts as well
Some recall it bitterly
As brooding darkness
As perpetual power cuts
As a littered front yard
As stinky soaked socks
As huge piles of laundry
As the pungent odour-
of half-dried nylon
As cough and viral flu
As dull as a poor joke
As leaking roof tiles
As repelling as the-
smell of rotten jackfruit
As flood and flashbacks
As a recurring nightmare
that meets a dead end.
But here’s monsoon
And I’m over the moon
All the rhythmic beats
And the dripping drizzle
For me it’s always-
been, oh so nostalgic
It’s deliberately ditching-
the brolly back home
It’s hopping in puddles
To enjoy the splash
It’s showing off, my-
polka dotted umbrella
It’s faking fevers, for-
black tea and blankets
It’s re-reading Dan Brown
Wrapped in a comforter
It’s joining the collector’s-
fan club, with high hopes
It’s bunking calculus class
For coffee at the canteen
It’s speeding off on-
bikes and long drives
It’s feeling cozy, with-
the wet night breeze
It’s getting rained on
With colourful coats on
It’s hiking fog-clad peaks
And eating beef steak
It’s skipping misty dawns
And sleeping in till noon
It’s poetry from the clouds
Blissful and melancholic
It’s being grateful to-
